We started the game strong and really pressed their defence. Our hard work was inevitably rewarded with a moment of magic in the third minute from a cross into the box to which Junior volleyed home to put us into an early lead. A lapse in concentration meant that Methley took a quick dribble in on the right hand side and caught our defence napping, their number 11 slotted home in the seventh minute to level the game at 1-1. We had numerous chances to go ahead and it wasn't until the 16th minute when Kylan who really was unlucky not to have scored by this point blasts home, the match report could be a book if I was to explain all of Kylans 7 goals today but each one was taken with aplomb, some tapped home and others beating players and slotting them away past the helpless goalkeeper. Finley in our goal wasn't as busy as usual but he was always switched on and collected a few through balls and his distribution and decision making was great. Freddie didn't have much to do today but when called upon he beat players and put some fantastic balls into the box for our forward players to get on the end of. Louis has really settled into his new role of CDM and having him on the ball for longer periods is certainly creating so many opportunities for us to score. Junior was unstoppable today and if not for Kylans goals he would have probably pinched the player of the match award today, another fantastic performance by him. Layton had a solid game and played some intricate passes with Kylan and Junior to create opportunities up the pitch. Joseph's weight of pass and his decision making today was as good as I've seen from any player, how he threads the needle to play in Kylan is brilliant to watch and he had a hat full of assists before eventually grabbing himself a goal with a fanatic finish into the far corner from the edge of the box.Javan held the ball up superbly and used his strength to hold off change after challenge, you just can't get the ball off him !, he was rewarded with a goal also.
But a special mention has to go to Jess who grabbed her first goal for Kirkstall and what a way to open her account, a cross into the box and she volleyed home passed the goalkeeper, a subtle celebration as she jogged back into position but a memorable moment for her and much enjoyed by the supporters with the loudest cheer of the day when it hit the back of the net.
Long may this form continue !
