After all of our remaining fixtures had been played we have been handed an additional four games ,which has had a detrimental impact on squad availability with other commitments already been made and holidays booked assuming we were done for the season. However we had a depleted squad last time out against Featherstone and it was our best performance of the season yet, in my opinion, so I wasn't worried about how we would perform with key players missing.
We started the game fairly strong and Featherstone's first goal came from a lapse in concentration from the defence. But we love being the underdog and our goal machine Lukas as he has done so often this season, steps up and poked the ball home beyond the helpless Featherstone goalkeeper. The missed opportunities killed us agin this week as chance after chance passes us by and we fail to convert and take the lead.
Some expert defending from Jess and Javan kept the scores level until the 21st minute in which the deadlock was finally broken with a good passing move by Featherstone.
In the second half, the remaining three goals were excellent passages of play and we can't beat ourselves up about them, Kylan going in goal for us in the second half was instrumental in the deficit being kept respectable as he pulled off some incredible saves and deservedly went on to receieve the player of the match award.
If we convert the chances, we outscore the opposition by a confrtgable margin. It will come, and the team is developing week on week which is our primary focus.
Onto Tingley away in our next fixture as we look to bounce back with a positive result.
As always ...
